With two older brothers and a computer enthusiastic father, I had already had contact with computer games before I could even speak. On our old DOS computer we played games like Rapor, Wacky Wheels or Kosmos. When a new computer arrived, we also played games that are still known today. Monkey Island for example was the first adventure game I ever played.
Since I never learned programming in my childhood or my youth, I just played the games. Creating a game myself was a big dream, but I never thought I could learn programming. After graduating high school I started studying biology and learning programming was a long way off. In my bachelor thesis, however, I worked a lot on the computer and used small scripts to make my work easier. The first contact with programming. It soon turned out that my enthusiasm for these scripts was much greater than for biology, which is why I finished my bachelor's degree in biology and started studying computer science.
Since October 2018 I have been studying computer science and I am fully passionate about it. Finally I can program games. I quickly came across Unity and made my first real programming experiences with it.
After a break from GameDev I wanted to get back into it so I used the restart to also change my engine of choice to Godot and so far I am loving it :-)
I even tried to code a bit on the engine itself and created a small pull request.
Now I want to push my GameDev Journey further and looking for people to build my first bigger game. I am curious what lies ahead :-)
Shortly after my discovery of Unity I started to participate in GameJams.
So far I have participated in the following 3:
